This biography of Justice Falkner chronicles
a key figure of 1700's colonial Lutheranism and the vital
role he played in its establishment. Beginning with Falckner's
birth and early life in Germany, his prior work and and spiritual
journey in Pennsylvania, major attention is given to the ordination
rite, as well as the certificate, and then his 20 year pioneer
missionary work in the Dutch language to people in New York
City, the Hudson River Valley, and northern New Jersey. Contained
also in this book are portions of text from the first American
Lutheran ordination service (held in Latin, Swedish, and German)
at Old Swedes Church, Philadelphia on Nov. 24, 1703. 120pp.
